Leigh Eliminated from KTCH Quiz Bowl in Sudden Death
On Wednesday, January 18, members of the Leigh High School Quiz Bowl Team geared up for their first competition of the year.
Over 60 schools compete in the KTCH radio quiz bowl each year. This year Leigh was represented by senior Michaela Hall and juniors Kaegan Held and Holly Kuhr. Juniors Cort Pokorney and Daniel Beller filled the alternate positions.
They faced the Fullerton Warriors in their first round. After both teams got their first three questions right, the event went to sudden death. Leigh missed their first question in final death and Fullerton answered correctly, taking the victory.
The sponsor for the team is Jay Knaak.
"The Leigh team was defeated by Fullerton in overtime during the KTCH Quiz Bowl,” Mr. Knaak said. “It seemed we got a few questions that helped the other team answer their questions. We went out on a math question in overtime, which is a little dissapointing since we had gone over that exact question the previous week in class. However, I was proud of the group for doing well in the first of the competition of the year."
“It was a fun match-up,” team member Hall said. “I really enjoyed how the whole team worked together to get the answers. I look forward to the next competition we compete in!”
