Junior High Boys Basketball Team Completes Season
The junior high boys basketball 2017-2018 season came to a close with a tournament in Wayne at the beginning of March.
This year the A team played 12 games, the B team played in 13 games, and the C team played 7 games.
The A team ended with a season record of 7-5, the B team finished with a record of 8-5, and the C team ended with a record of 1-6. The total program record was 16-16.
A team player, Logan Schroeder said, “We had a good season, but had a couple of tough losses. I think we improved overall as a team and as individuals on the court. Every game was a close hard fought battle. Sometimes we came short, but every loss made us better.”
The A team defeated 7 teams, Shelby-Rising City, Howells-Dodge, Madison, Schuyler, Columbus Scotus, Stanton, and Osmond.
The B team won against Shelby-Rising City, Humphrey-LHF, Madison, Schuyer, Columbus Scotus, St. Francis, St. Edward, and Wayne.
The C team’s only win was against Schuyler.
The A and B teams ended their season by playing at the Wayne tournament. At the Wayne tournament both teams played three games. The A team went 2-1 that day, beating Stanton and Osmond and losing to Laurel-Concord-Colerdige. The B team went 1-2, beating Wayne and losing to Pierce and Wakefield.
Head Coach, Mr. Jeff Bachman said, “I was really excited about the growth our junior high program made this year. We saw great improvements from a lot of kids. Our focuses for the year were to establish our culture and improve our fundamental skills. I believe we accomplished both of those objectives. I am very excited about this group moving forward.”
