Nebraska Author Visits Elementary
Launch the media gallery 1 playerThe Leigh Elementary students took a short break from regular studies on April 20 when Nebraska author Jeff Kurrus visited them to tell them about his path to being an author.
Jeff has published such books as “Can You Dance Like John,” “The Tale of Jacob Swift,” and “Have You Seen Mary?” Jeff also writes for NebraskaLand Magazine. He uses real life pictures that he takes in his books.
Jeff Kurrus told the students about how he got interested in photography and his writing experiences.
He also told the students how they should get out of their houses and focus on nature. He told them that they should play video games less than they do, and watch less TV.
Many students who brought books got to meet with Jeff afterwards. Those students had a meet and greet where he autographed their books and talked to them.
Mrs. Kim Bruhn, who was in charge of the Elementary Day the day of it, said, “The students enjoyed his enthusiasm for writing and photography. He gave a great presentation with emphasis on using real life pictures and using them in a fiction story. He also expressed the importance of going outside and playing instead of spending lots of time watching TV and video games.”
