Leigh Quiz Bowl Team Victorious Through Round 1
The Leigh Quiz Bowl came away with a first-round win in the KTCH Radio Quiz Bowl on January 8. The 4-person team—composed of seniors Holly Kuhr, Cort Pokorney, and Kaegan Held; and sophomore Alicia Holmberg—earned their place in the second round of the tournament after defeating Hartington Cedar Catholic with a score of 2-0.
The team is sponsored by Mr. Jay Knaak.
The single-elimination tournament has a total of 63 teams competing from all across Eastern Nebraska.
Leigh’s next match is against Boone Central on February 4 at 9:30 a.m. and will be broadcast live on the 104.9 radio station.
“Competing in the quiz bowl tournament is a fun experience because it requires us to think fast about random questions,” said Holly Kuhr. “We had two questions over science and history and were pretty positive we knew the answers. Even though we had a couple weeks off from learning with Christmas Break, it was good to see us start strong and pull off the win.”
