Prom 2019: A Spring “Winter Wonderland”

A lot of dancing and good fun was had on March 30th at the Opera House in Clarkson as the junior and senior classes of Clarkson and Leigh celebrated Prom.

A “Winter Wonderland” themed Prom saw sophomore servers dressed in a white collared shirt with a bow tie, lots of pretty lights, trees, and punch glasses.

A dinner of roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, dinner rolls, salad, and a cupcake, all catered by Hy-Vee, began at 6 pm. The meal was served by the sophomore servers, who were the top 6 students of the sophomore class by academics.

Following dinner, the juniors, seniors, and sophomore prom servers lined up for the Grand March. Community member and viewers looked on in awe at the couples as they walked down, and pictures followed. After pictures, all the parents left, the party began!

After the teens danced the night away for over two hours, the kids loaded up the busses and headed down to Wishbones in Columbus.

When everyone arrived down at Wishbones, a snack of Subway sandwiches and lots of other goodies was provided.

The post-prom fun started with rollerblading, laser tag, and card games. To help conclude the night everyone played a huge game of dodgeball.

When asked about her Prom experience, senior Bianca Aguirre said, “I enjoyed attending my final year of prom. It was really fun, and something I’ll always remember!”

Prom sponsors were Mrs. Caitlin Kabes, Mrs. Megan Hillen, and Mrs. Justine Fischer. Post Prom was led by the junior and senior parents.
