Patriot BB Teams Battle Wynot in Preseason Matchup
The girls’ and boys’ basketball team started off the season with a preseason jamboree game against Wynot on Monday, December 2nd, at Wynot.
This was a full varsity starter game, but it does not count to each other team’s season record. It was just a chance for each team to go against another team to scrimmage without it going towards their real record.
There are 23 girls who are participating in basketball this year. The girls are coached by Matt Murren and is assisted by Abby Sayers and Brian Becker.
They consist of 4 seniors: Reagan Settje, Ashlynn Novotny, Kim Stodola, and Abbi Brabec
Juniors include Alissa Kasik, Cassidy Hoffman, Kayden Schumacher, Bailey Lemburg, Emily Loseke, Kelsey Moore, Hannah Dronsett, and Bridget Rupprecht
The sophomores are Kennedy Settje, Makenna Held, Faith Indra, Bailie Graybill, and Haley Bovee
Rounding out the team are freshmen Sydney Reeves, Kerstyn Held, Jessica Hoffman, Deandrea Rivera, Korbee Wendt, and Sammy Mcevoy
The Lady Patriots went strong and gave it their all but could not finish the Blue Devils. The game finished 23-27.
Junior Alissa Kasik said, “We have been working hard in practice and after our jamboree game, we've seen what we can do and what we need to improve on. I really think we can do great things this season. We just have to keep putting in the work to get to where we know we can potentially be."
Coach Murren said, "We are very excited for the upcoming season and the team we have. We have a lot of great pieces to the puzzle that we are trying to work together and bring together as one. We look to improve throughout the season and peak as post-season play begins."
The Patriots boys’ team has 23 boys who are participating this year. They are coached by Jeff Bachman and is assisted by Andrew Faltys and Willie Holtz.
They consist of 2 seniors on the team: Korbe Indra, and Issak Wiese.
Juniors include: Trevor Zulkoski, Lance Paprocki, Tommy McEvoy, and Iker Merida de Leoń
The sophomores are Jacob Eisenmann, Issak Wiese, Logan Schroeder, Zane Williams, Kanyon Held, Mitch Beeson, Carter Hanel, Eli Hays, Gavin Novotny, Jared Novotny, Issaco Rodenburg, and Kyan Schnelle
Once again rounding out the team are freshmen Jace Indra, Mason Whitmore, Kyle Kasik, Kyle Holmburg, Drew Beeson, and Dalton Zulkosky
The boys’ team went all out and beat the Blue Devils. The game finished 34-33 it was close but they went home proud and happy.
Junior Trevor Zulkoski said, “I am really looking forward to it. I think that we will do well and have a great season.”
Coach Bachman said, “I am really excited for this upcoming season. I am looking forward to a season of growth and improvement. We have a lot of talented, young players who will grow and get better as the year goes on.”
