JH Boys BB Team Loses to David City and St. Edward

By: Leah Pinkston, a freshman at Leigh High School

January 28th marked the Patriot’s Jr. High Boys’ Basketball game in David City. The group’s A team sadly came out with a 35-25 loss, whereas the B team won by a landslide with 22-9.

On February 1st, during the St. Ed game, the Boys’ A team lost 43-37 once again, and the B team followed suit with a 27-18 ending score.

And lastly, during the Schuyler game on February 2nd, both teams brought home a great win. The A team came out with 32-11, and the B team with 6-3.

Coach Cash said, “David City:  Boys played well but we just came out too slow and we weren’t ready to play.  We did pick it up in the second half, but it was too little too late.

In Schuyler, again, we got off to a slow start, but we battled back coming up just short.  The overall effort was good.

At St. Ed, we played a great game both offensively and defensively, coming out with the first win of the season for the A team.  B team played a 10:00 running clock game with Zach Gall scoring a three at the buzzer to give B team the win.”

Kyle McMullin said, “The David City game we played hard but came up a little short. The St. Ed game we played good as a team and ended up winning that game because of a great team effort. The Schuyler game we played hard and almost ended up winning the A game but we pulled up short and didn't get the result we wanted.”
