JH BBB Wraps Season

By: Korbee Wendt, a sophomore at Leigh High School

The Clarkson-Leigh junior high boys’ basketball team wrapped up their season on Saturday, Feb. 20 with a tournament in Clarkson.

They went 1-1 this weekend, picking up a win against Humphrey/Lindsay Holy Family but unfortunately losing to Howells-Dodge. The A-team won to H/LHF with a score of 35-31 and the B-team won with a score of 38-21.

The A-team lost to HD with a score of 19-21 and B-team lost to HD with a score of 29-51.

Eighth-grader Jared Olson reflected on the season:

“I think we overall improved throughout the season, but there is always more room to get better,” Olson said.  “The tournament was a good way to end the year.  Howells was definitely beatable, but we let the little mistakes during that game take over.”

Coach Seth Cash said, “The season as a whole was one of individual successes and improvement all around. While winning games is something we strive to do, the improvement of the team and the individual is always paramount. When the individual improves, so does the team, and the wins come next. Overall, we had a great group of guys to coach and it was a season of small successes.”

Overall, the A-team finished with a 3-7 record, and the B team finished with a 6-4 record.
