Senior Spotlight: Madisyn Pelan

By: Kayden Schumacher, a senior at Leigh High School

On June 5th, 2003, Tracy and Daniel Pelan were blessed with their youngest daughter, Madisyn Elizabeth Pelan. Madisyn was welcomed by her older sister, Marissa Pelan, who is now 25 years old.

Madisyn’s family wouldn’t be complete without her dog, Koda; Madisyn claims that Koda is one of the best things that has ever happened to her. Madisyn also has a cat named Zeus.

In her time at LHS, Madisyn has been active in many activities.  She has participated in FCCLA and One-Act for six years; track and field, journalism, and the Youth Advisory Council for three years; and volleyball for two years.

During this time, Madisyn has had many accomplishments.  Madisyn Pelan was a FCCLA National Medalist. She also received an Outstanding Actress award this year at Conference One-Act. Madisyn was also nominated and won “Student of the Month” in school.

Looking back, Madisyn’s proudest high school accomplishment was getting her CNA license. Her favorite high school memories are spending time with her friends and making memories with them. She also recalled that her most embarrassing moment was “getting nailed in the face” by Trevor Zulkoski during a dodgeball game.

Three words that are commonly used to describe Madisyn are blatant, extroverted, and outgoing.

If she won the lottery, she said she would use the money to build a “shouse” and to pay for her soon-to-be college debt. She also said that if she could travel anywhere, she would go to Iceland because she has always wanted to go there.

Madisyn’s favorite hobbies to do outside of school are playing with her dog, Koda, hanging out with her friends, and working. Her favorite movie is White Chicks, and her favorite song is “Butterfly Fly Away” by Miley Cyrus. Madisyn also said that her favorite book is Moby Dick

Madisyn has three goals on her bucket list: to be financially stable, to get her Master’s Degree, and to drive her dream car. In 15 years, she sees herself living in her own house and married with a family.

In the future, Madisyn plans to attend Northeast Community College, and she aspires to become a registered nurse and work in a hospital.

Madisyn said that if she has to choose one person she admires, it is her dad because he is so hard working and motivated, and he gets a lot of things done.

Madisyn leaves LHS underclassmen with a bit of advice before she goes: “You may think you want to grow up faster, but it’s important to have fun and spend time with your friends in high school while you can.”
