Golfers Tee Up at David City Aquinas Invite

By: Jacob Martensen, a freshman at Leigh High School

The Clarkson-Leigh Patriot varsity golf team competed in their second meet of the year in David City at the David City Golf Club on March 31, 2021.  David City Aquinas hosted the meet.

Unfortunately, this was a rough 18 holes for the Patriots, as none of them placed near the top of the meet, and they did not place as a team.

Shooting the low score for varsity that day was sophomore Mason Whitmore, with 103.  Mic Sayers followed with 106.  Jackson Mullenhoff shot 108, Isaac Rodenburg ended with 113, and Noah Holoubek finished the day with 125.  This was a combined team score of 430.

Jack Brabec, freshman JV golfer from Leigh, said, “It was a tight course and we just didn't bring our A game.”

Coach Andrew Faltys saw improvement, despite the day’s finish.

“Despite the weather not cooperating very well, the golfers stuck with it and all but one improved during the second rounds,” Faltys said. “We need to continue getting better at practice so we can make a push when it comes to conference and districts!”
