By: Gracie Eisenmann, a freshman at Leigh High school

On April 26, the junior high Clarkson-Leigh track team traveled to Humphrey for their second track meet of the season.

Seventh-grader Ava Kasik brought home two gold medals in the 200M Dash and the 195M Hurdles and a bronze medal in the 100M Hurdles. Kendall Schneider also contributed to the team with a gold medal in the 100M Dash and silver medals in the 100M Hurdles and the 195M Hurdles.

Both the 8th and 7th grade girls earned second place in the 4x100M Relay, while the 7th grade girls placed third in the 4x400M Relay.

“I think we did good overall as a team,” said seventh-grader Karly Wendt. “It was a lot of fun and there is always room for improvement. I hope we can get the gold at our next track meet!”

For the boys Jacob Koehn won the gold medal in the 100M Hurdles, and the 7th grade boys brought home the gold in the 4x100M Relay.

Mr. Cash was very pleased with how the team performed.

“The kids did a great job of coming out and competing. We had several PRs on the day and we are excited to carry those positives into the next meet”
