Patriot Girls Golf at Stanton

By: Sage Fernau, a sophomore at Leigh High School

Wednesday, September 1 was a chilly day for the Patriot Girls’ golf team at the Stanton Golf Invite held at Elkhorn Acres in Stanton.

It started raining for the first few hours of the meet then started sprinkling down on the girls for the rest of the day.

Cortlynn Cadwallader, senior, said, “The day started off chilly and cloudy, but as the meet progressed, it got a bit warmer but started to rain off and on.  For the course being damp and wet, we did well.  We had to hit the ball harder to get it to go a good distance since it would leave water streaks every time you hit it.”

Fellow senior Kaitlyn Fehrer led the Patriot team with a 98 after 18 holes.  Ashly Guillen shot 111, Hazel Mundt shot 114, Cadwallader finished with a 127, and freshman Paige Kurpgeweit rounded out the varsity with 167.

Congratulations to all of the golf girls at this meet and future meets to come!
