Mr. Bachman Joins Teaching Staff at Leigh!

By: Deandrea Rivera, a junior at Leigh High School

With the start of a new school year comes new classes, one or two new students, and a couple of teachers. With that, we are proud to say that we have six new teachers, one of them being Mr. Andrew Bachman.

Mr. Bachman is teaching 6th and 7th grade math, Algebra I, Geometry, and upper level high school and college math.

This is a new position for the expanding school district, as Leigh has only had one high school math teacher in the past.  Now, Mr. Bachman joins Mr. Jeffrey Korus as the second math teacher.

Mr. Bachman is a familiar face in Leigh.  He went to Leigh High School and graduated in 2006. He now joins his brother, Mr. Jeff Bachman, on the teaching staff.

He has several degrees including an Exercise Science Degree from Wayne State College, Master’s Degree in Health and PE from Northern State University, and a Mathematics Education Degree from UNO.

He has also completed graduate math courses from Chadron State College and UNL that he wants to pick up with this next summer.

He has been married for 8 years to Brianne Bachman, who is also a new teacher at Leigh this year. They have two kids: RaeLynn, who is six, and Drextyn, who is three. He enjoys spending time with his family together like going on family walks and going to the zoo.

Before he joined Leigh, he taught at Wisner- Pilger for 4 years.

In addition to teaching, he is also coaching Junior High Boys Basketball and Junior High Track.

When he is not teaching, he likes spending time with his family, being active, and also eating food. He also enjoys all the movies about superheroes that have been coming out and collects some comic books as well.

When asked about how he feels about a new school year, he said, "I am excited to be back at Leigh! There are so many great things going on that I am happy to be a part of. I plan on challenging all of my students to become better math students and better people."
