LHS Celebrates Homecoming Week With Fun and Festivities!

Clarkson-Leigh stepped up to the plate to celebrate this year’s Homecoming, and they did not disappoint! The week was filled with dress up days, a pep rally for our Homecoming Court, a combined pep rally, and finally the football game against the Shelby-Rising City Huskies.

To kick off the week, students and staff showed their support by rolling out of bed, donning their best headwear, and heading to school with Pajama Day/Hat Day. Our winners were Macy Clausen and Simon Wemhoff. In the students’ sleepy stupors, they also decorated the doors and halls to show their Patriot and Highway 91 Cyclones pride.

On Tuesday, we combined two prompts to create chaos: Dad Day/Anything But a Bookbag. Gabriel Pinkston was decked out for Dad Day and was one of our winners. James Groteleuschen was the winner of Anything But a Bookbag with his pedal tractor.

Lights, camera, action! Even though it was Husker Harvest Days and picture day, students still dressed up like movie characters on Wednesday. Albert Diaz won as Cheech Marin, and Aubrie Hanna won as John Bender.

Students put their brains together to come up with Class Unity Day ideas, and they definitely did not fall short. From Hawaiian to Frat Boys to Camo, each class showed their pride by dressing up as their themes. Freshman grabbed their black eyeliner and best black apparel to take the win with their goth theme.

Not only did the classes unify this Thursday, we also held a pep rally to celebrate our sports teams and our Homecoming Court. The couples dressed as Barbie and Ken, Fred and Daphne, a football player and cheerleader, and Mario and Luigi. They competed by sorting gummy worms out of whipped cream with their mouth alone, and then finished with the popular tortilla slap challenge.

To continue the Patriot Tradition, students proudly wore their Patriot garb on Friday. Cody Jedlicka and Sydney Messerlie went all out with their red, white, and blue, and were our winners.

To finish off the school week, students went to Clarkson for another pep rally Friday afternoon. Classes competed against each other by filming one TikTok each, seeing which would receive the most views. To end off the day, classes went one-on-one in a dodgeball competition, with the Clarkson-Leigh Junior Class as the champions.

That night, Patriots clinched a victory against Shelby-Rising City at the Homecoming game in Clarkson, and ended the week with a high note at the Homecoming Dance on Saturday night in Leigh.
