Nearly 50 Participating in Patriot Track and Field
With basketball ending and spring right around the corner, track is back in session. With almost 50 students out for track, there is bound to be some medals won.
Freshmen out for track include Hannah Cech, Ava Kasik, Nevaeh Zullkoski, Karly Wendt, Lexis Gleason, Kendall Schneider, Sydney Messerlie, and Rowan Stodola, Willow Fernau, Brayden Loseke, Vicente Alvarado, Coal Fernau, Tucker Matthies, Corey Steffensmeier, and Levi Gall.
Sophomores consist of Delanie Ewin, Brianne Kuhr, Emily Stender, Brynn Settje, Baylee Settje, Izzy Hollatz, Ella Urban, Cadence Indra, Noah Harney, Rylee Balzer, Javier Alvarado, Caleb Christenson, Otto Crecco, Nile Jones, Korbin Lemburg, and Zach Gall.
For juniors there is Addie McAtee, Cassi Rayback, Tanyn Larson, Macy Clausen, Gracie Eisenmann, Alyssa Gurnsey, Sage Fernau, Chloe Hanel, Joey Steffensmeier, Trey Steffensmeier, Isaac Baumert, Garrett Stodola, Jack Brabec, and Dylan Higby.
Finally, there are just two seniors this year—Korbee Wendt and Drew Beeson.
This year’s track team is coached by Mrs. Bri Wietfeld, Mrs. Bri Bachman, Mr. Jim Clarkson, Mr. Lee Schneider, and Mr. Jeff Korus.
Their first track meet will be at Stanton at the end of March, followed by meets at Osceola, Lyons, Twin River, Humphrey and North Bend. They will finish the season with a Class C district meet at Wisner-Pilger and hopefully some track athletes making it to state!
Coach Wietfield said, “I have high expectations for this season. We have some eager athletes ready to pick up where they left off last spring. We also have a great group of freshmen. We are excited to see what they can do.”
