JH Track Competes at Battle Creek
On Tuesday, April 18, 2023, the Clarkson-Leigh Junior High Track team headed to Battle Creek for a track meet.
Over 60 athletes from seventh and eighth grade are competing in track between the two schools this year.
Eight teams competed in this early meet. The 7th Grade girls team placed 7th, the 8th Grade Girls got 3rd. The 7th Grade Boys got 7th as a team, the 8th Grade Boys placed 3rd as a team.
7th Grader Matelyn Rayback said, “The meet went well. We all competed to the best of our abilities. We learned that sunscreen is important and it was fun to see people we know from other schools.”
Placing 1st in a large meet like this was no easy feat, but the Patriots had several athletes who accomplished it. 8th grader Maizie Stoklasa placed first in Triple Jump, while Claire Holoubek was right behind her in 2nd. Maizie also placed 1st in the 200M Dash.
For the boys, 8th grader Blake Loseke placed 1st in the 100M and 200M Dash. The boys’ 4x1 Relay team of Loseke, Cody Jedlicka, Max McAtee, and Colton Steffensmeier also placed 1st.
