JH Track Fares Well at Humphrey
On Monday, April 24, the junior high track team traveled to Humphrey. They participated in the Bulldog invite with six other teams. With many successful runs and multiple placings, the Patriots made a name for themselves. The boys placed 5th overall and the girls placed 2nd overall.
7th grader Caleb Settje said, “The track meet at Humphrey I think went really well. We all participated and tried our hardest. Everybody placed well and the 8th grade girls especially placed well.”
Highlights for the Clarkson-Leigh seventh graders include Easton Brabec placing 2nd in the mile run and Aiden Jurgensen placing 2nd in the 100M Hurdles. Owen Schnoor finished 2nd in Triple Jump, and the 4x100 Relay team of Schnoor, Jurgensen, Cash Fehringer, and Cole Vodehnal also placed 2nd. For the seventh-grade girls, Lainey Urban finished 2nd in the 800 and Soleece Jensen took 2nd in High Jump.
Highlights for the 8th grade team include Maizie Stoklasa placing 1st in the 200 and Triple Jump, and Claire Holoubek taking 1st in the 100M Hurdles and 200M Hurdles, as well as 2nd in Triple Jump. Ella Baumert took 2nd in the 100 Hurdles. The 4x1 Relay team of Stoklasa, Holoubek, Baumert, and Reese Wietfeld finished 2nd. For the eighth-grade boys, Blake Loseke took 1st place in the 400, and 2nd in the 200. Cody Jedlicka took 1st in Discus, and Colton Steffensmeier took 1st in Triple Jump. The eighth-grade boys also found success in the relays with the 4x1 team of Loseke, Jedlicka, Steffensmeier, and Max McAtee taking 1st and the 4x4 team of McAtee, Jeryn Struebing, Ben Rodenburg, and James Moore also taking 1st.
Coach Andrew Bachman said, “It was a good day at Humphrey. All 4 of our teams competed well and were able to score a bunch of points. Our 7th grade girls showed a lot of improvement compared to the previous meet, so that was great to see.”
