Settje and Hanel Capture Gold at Norfolk Classic

(L to R): Chloe Hanel and Brynn Settje

Each year the Norfolk Classic is held at Norfolk High School for the most elite track athletes in the area.  Coaches submit times and marks, and the top 8 best competitors in each event from throughout Northeast Nebraska are invited to compete.

On Thursday, April 27, two Clarkson-Leigh track athletes qualified to compete at the Classic.  Leigh sophomore Brynn Settje competed in two events, and Clarkson junior Chloe Hanel qualified in three.

“Being able to get invited to the Norfolk Classic was a great opportunity for me,” Settje said. “It was a great experience that I got to be a part of. The day went very well for both me and Chloe.”

Despite the tough competition, Hanel finished 1st in High Jump, 1st in 100M Hurdles, and 3rd in 300M Hurdles. Settje received 1st in Long Jump and 4th in Triple Jump.

“Competing at the Norfolk Classic is always a fun experience for athletes and it is an opportunity to compete against some of the best athletes in the area,” Patriot track coach Brianne Bachman said.

“Between Brynn and Chloe, they came home with 3 first place medals, a 3rd place, and a 4th place medal. They both had some really good marks and times as we are moving into the final stretch of the season. The track athletes have been working hard and we are looking forward to a strong end of the season. Go Patriots!”
