LCS Celebrates Last Day of School

The last day of school on May 17 was an action-packed day for the high school and elementary classes.

The elementary students spent the day attending the elementary awards ceremony where the 6th grade graduates were recognized and top reading awards were given to students in each class.  Later, students were able to enjoy a sack lunch with their parents and then head to track and field day where they competed in various events.

The high schoolers spent the morning going to each of their classes for a short period of time, going over final tests, tying up loose ends, and getting signed out.  Next, students could choose between watching a movie or participating in the all school volleyball tournament. In the afternoon, the high school students helped with either the elementary track and field day or the FFA petting zoo.  The junior high students spent the afternoon completing community service projects by getting the ballfields and volleyball courts looking nice, or picking up sticks and pulling weeds at the park, or completing paint projects.

The day came to a close with wishing the state track athletes farewell and good luck at state, and then the fire trucks turned on the water for a school-wide water party for all grades.  Thanks to the Leigh Volunteer Fire Department for bringing the water!  The many smiles, giggles, and screams were a great way to end a great year!
