Golfers Come Up Short at Districts
After a successful season, the Patriot boys’ golf team set out for districts, held at Oakland Golf Club at Oakland on May 16. The stakes were high, and after 18 holes, the top 3 teams, as well as the top 10 individual golfers, would qualify for the Class C State Golf Championships.
The Patriots held their own against extremely tough competition that day, finishing 8th out of 16 teams. Tekamah-Herman won the meet easily, with Yutan finishing runner-up.
Sophomore Brody Rogers from Tekamah Herman was the low score for the day out of 80 golfers, shooting 68 after 18 holes. Aquinas Catholic’s Jaylin Jakub finished 2nd with 76.
Competing for the Patriot varsity was Ryan Brichacek, Mic Sayers, Quentin Mullenhoff, Max Muhle, and Jase Indra. Sayers shot the low score for the Patriots with 91. Brichacek shot 95, Indra shot 97, and Mullenhoff and Muhle finished at 102 and 108 respectively. Unfortunately, none of the Patriots finished in the Top 10 to qualify for state.
Overall team results are as follows: 1) Tekamah-Herman (318), 2. Yutan (343), 3. North Bend Central (350), 4. West Point-Beemer (369), 5. Logan View (370), 6. Cedar Bluffs (370), 7.
