Another Saturday Tourney for the Cyclones

The Highway 91 Cyclones traveled to Lakeview for a tough Saturday tournament on September 9. They faced off against the top-seeded Twin River Titans and put up a fight but still lost 1-13.

Their second game was against Boone Central, who was the four seed in the tournament. A tough game ended in a tough loss as they dropped that one as well with a final of 4-14.

They still had one more game however. Battling for 7th place, they faced off against the seventh-seeded Logan View Raiders. A good close game followed between the evenly-matched teams. Although Cyclone junior Jordan Ratzlaff hit an inside the park home run during the game, Logan View squeaked out a 3-4 win over the Cyclones.

This brings the struggling Cyclones’ record to 3-11 on the season.

Senior Cassandra Rayback said, “To start off the tournament, we played a team we have never played before. The game didn't start off well, and we had two starting players get injured. Throughout the other games, we played with the players we had and made the most of it. By the third game, it ended in a one-run game. It wasn't a successful tournament, but we still got a lot out of those games."

Sophomore Sydney Messerlie agreed with Rayback. “I thought we tried our best even though we had a lot of challenges thrown at us. After all of the injuries and two to the hospital, we learned no matter what gets thrown at us, we kept pushing and gave it our all.”
