Another Weekend, Another Tourney Win

After coming off an exciting win against the Humphrey Lindsay Bulldogs, the Patriots traveled to Stanton on September 16 for a tournament.

The Patriots opened their tournament up with a match against the Arlington Eagles. The Patriots started off strong and quickly defeated the Eagles 25-8 in the first set and 25-11 in the second set.

Chloe Hanel led the team in kills with 10 while Kendall Schneider and Izabel Hollatz both added 12 assists apiece.

After defeating the Eagles, the Patriots matched up with the Ponca Indians. Once again, the Patriots didn’t let up and defeated the Indians 25-11 and 25-15.

In the championship game the Patriots faced off against the Crofton Warriors. The Warriors challenged the Patriots in the first set and fought until the very end with the Patriots pulling away 25-23. In the second set the Patriots brought the heat and defeated Crofton 25-15 and were named tournament champions! This was the first time in program history that the Patriots have won the Stanton tournament.

Brynn Settje led the team defensively and had 11 digs while Chloe Hanel pitched in 4 blocks.

Junior middle hitter Baylee Settje said, “The Stanton Volleyball Tournament was definitely a great confidence boost for our whole team. We started off the morning great beating both Arlington and Ponca! Both of these wins led us to play in the championship against Crofton. Crofton definitely gave us a battle to see if we can work through any situation, and it ended up in our favor. Overall, it was a great day for our whole team because it was the first time we have ever won that tournament!”

“The Stanton Tournament was an awesome outing for us!  We came in with a lot of confidence and played Patriot volleyball!  We felt we put a few more things together and we were able to control all of our matches!  We got the biggest push from Crofton, but we stayed present and controlled the things we could control and we were able to come out on top!  Winning the Stanton Tournament for the first time in Patriot history was simply awesome!  The girls put a lot of hard work into practices and they truly deserved it!” said head coach, Becky Schnieder.

The Patriots still remain undefeated with a record of 14-0!
