Patriots Dominate at David City
Launch the media gallery 1 playerThe Clarkson Leigh volleyball team had a full week of practice before traveling to David City to compete in a tournament on September 23. This was a new tournament for the Patriots, replacing the Hampton tournament that has been on their schedule in previous years.
The Patriots started off their day strong, making quick work of the David City Aquinas Monarchs. They finished the game winning the first set 25-9 and the second 25-13.
Senior Chloe Hanel led the team in kills with 9 while Gracie Eisenmann and Brynn Settje both added 5 kills each.
Next up, the Patriots faced Central City. The Patriots came out strong and dominated the Bison 25-6 in the first set. In the second set the Patriots kept their offense rolling and won 25-12.
After defeating the Bison, the Patriots then moved onto the championship match where they would match up against the North Bend Tigers. Once again, the Patriots didn’t hold anything back and won the first set 25-9. The Tigers began to pick up the pace in the second set but the Patriots’ defense was on point. The Patriots prevailed over the Tigers 25-14 in the second set and were crowned tournament champions!
Against the Tigers Chloe Hanel and Gracie Eisenmann both recorded 2 aces each while Izzy Hollatz and Kendall Schneider set up a total of 25 assists.
Assistant coach Tyler Brester said, “The girls battled hard all day and we were fortunate to come out with 3 more wins. It was really fun to see the girls play and have fun on the court together. It was a complete team effort and we look to continue to build as the season progresses.”
“I thought that we played very well during the David City tournament! We played hard and communicated very well, earning us first place!” said setter and right-side hitter, Izzy Hollatz.
After the tournament the Patriots still stand undefeated with a record of 18-0!
