Homecoming Week Culminates in Friday Festivities

With another school year, one more homecoming football game rolls on in, but the Leigh
community really showed up on October 6, 2023. With a combined Leigh and Clarkson pep
rally, tailgating, homecoming crowning, and the alumni band, it was a night to remember as the
Patriots battled the Cross County Cougars.

Tailgating started the festivities at 5:00 p.m. The fans were encouraged to bring their
tents, grills, and best appetizers, while the kids enjoyed the open field.

The Leigh High School Alumni Band and current high school band continued the
excitement after the tailgating. The alumni band was started back in May when former Leigh
High School band students were asked by the Leigh Legacy Fund to play at the Leigh Alumni
All-Class Reunion.

At half-time, the Clarkson-Leigh dance team and 119 elementary students took the field
to show off their dances that they had learned earlier that day. Dance Coach Stephanie Dostal
said, “We are so excited to have these numbers and continue to watch our Patriots grow and have
the love of dance. Our 24-girl dance team has been working hard to get a routine for these
dancers. We are also staying with the theme and everyone will have Barbie inspired songs!”
To finish off the night, the homecoming kings and queens were crowned. From Leigh,
Andrew Rivera and Cassandra Rayback were king and queen. Max Muhle and Jolie Stoklasa
were the king and queen from Clarkson.

Leigh High School Principal Andrew Faltys said, “It is great to see so many people come
out and support our schools. The dance camp had 119 little dancers, and it’s awesome how well
Mrs. Dostal promotes the dance team. The tailgate is something new that Mr. Fischer wanted to
try this year. We went all out this year, and it’s really cool to see so many people come together
for a special event. We have a lot of great families in our communities, and it really shows with
all the support that we are getting. Friday night was a great night for football, little kids dance
camp, and the crowning of the king and queen.”
