Patriots Runner-Up in Home Tournament!

The Patriots hosted the annual Patriot Tournament on September 30, 2023, in Clarkson. The pool play was very competitive and had many great teams in it. The Patriots played great the first two games to make it into the championship game but couldn’t pull through on the last game.

The Patriots’ day consisted of playing Pender, Elmwood Murdock, and Humphrey-Lindsay Holy Family.

To start off the day, they began by playing the Pendragons. The Patriots started off slow, but they came alive and won both sets, 25-12 and 25-16.

Tanyn Larson led the team in kills with 5, while Brynn Settje and Gracie Eisenmenn led the team in digs with 7 each.

The Patriots had a lot of energy going into the next game where they played Elmwood-Murdock. They played great defense and had many great hits, which led them to win both sets against a strong E-M team. The score of these two sets were 25-19 and 25-14.

In this game Chloe Hanel led the team with 9 kills and Baylee Settje contributed 5.

Gracie Eisenmann, senior outside hitter, said, “We started off the morning a little slow but peaked during the second game and won against a top-rated team.”

The Patriots headed off into the championship game against Humphrey-Lindsay Holy Family, who they had already defeated once this year.

The Patriots started off very slow in the first set but were able to come back, but not quite enough to win. The second set the Patriots came out with a lot of energy and played great all the way around, tying the game at one set apiece. The final set was a battle for the Patriots, with the lead switching a lot, but unfortunately the Patriots couldn’t pull out the win, falling 21-25

Chloe Hanel led the team with 14 kills, while Brynn Settje and Gracie Eisenmenn led the team with 11 digs each.

“Unfortunately, we weren’t able to keep our energy during the championship, which cost us the game,” Eisenmann said.

Assistant Coach Bri Bachman said, “Last weekend the Patriot Volleyball Tournament was filled with competitive teams. The Patriot volleyball team had a couple of tough matches and also suffered their first loss of the season with a tough match against Humphrey-Lindsay Holy Family. The girls will likely see HLHF again before the end of the season, and I know they will be ready for a rematch!

With their first loss of the season, the varsity record is now 22-1.
