Booster Club Hosts Spirit Night in Clarkson

Get excited! The Clarkson-Leigh Patriot fall sports’ season is officially underway!
On Friday, August 21, Patriot players and fans gathered in the Clarkson park for the annual Booster Club Spirit Night. Spirit Night marks the start of all Patriot sports for the 2015 season. The Clarkson Booster Club hosted the event, serving burgers to all who attended at the beginning of the night.
The Clarkson-Leigh Dance Team started off the night performing a dance to get everyone excited for the upcoming season.
Next up on the program was a speech from football head coach, Jim Clarkson. Clarkson spoke highly of his team as they continue to work hard to prepare for the their first game on September 4 in Wakefield. Coach Clarkson gave out awards for his team’s involvement over the summer in the weight room and on the practice field this season.
Next up, the Pats’ volleyball team showed their excitement for the season as coach Becky Schneider spoke about the girls’ commitment, positive attitudes, and love for the game. All team members were introduced by grade, and several of the seniors shared their thoughts on the upcoming season. The volleyball team’s first games are a triangular in Madison on September 3 in Madison.
Finally, dance team coach Justine Fischer spoke about the hard work the dance team has put in this summer. The dance team members were introduced by grade, and Mrs. Fischer recapped the summer, including how the elite team received first place team of the 2015 Colfax County Fair Competition, and the girls danced in Clarkson at the Nebraska Seven City Bike Tour.
Junior Kenzie Noonan said of the event, “I thought the spirit night had a really good turnout, and all the kids are looking forward to the new year. Go Patriots!”
Good luck to all Patriot teams. We hope for a successful year in all sports and activities. As these dedicated players and coaches train for the beginning of the season, the community and Booster Club support from both towns is greatly appreciated.
