FCCLA Holds End-of-Year Banquet

Senior Megan Bahns delivers her final speech as FCCLA Chapter President. She later announced the 2017-18 President, Sydney Geier.

The end of the school year is a time of banquets, speeches, and looking back on everything that was accomplished.

On Tuesday, May 9, the Leigh-Clarkson FCCLA Chapter did just that, holding their annual potluck banquet in the Leigh High School gym.  The banquet was filled with memories from the whole year for all 25 members who attended, along with their families.

The annual banquet is also a way to say goodbye to all of the senior chapter members. Two of these seniors—Megan Bahns and Hannah Johnson—received the FCCLA Achievement Award for being in FCCLA for six years.  Other graduating members include Kenzie Noonan, Luiz Mayorga, and Emily Schnelle. Chapter Advisory Mrs. Megan Hillen will deeply miss all of them, and she even got a little teary saying goodbye to them.

“The banquet was a great opportunity for our chapter to reflect on this year's success and recognize those individuals who put great effort into our chapter activities this past school year,” Mrs. Hillen said.

Megan Bahns, 2016-17 chapter president then gave a speech about this whole year and how she was going to miss FCCLA and all of the members!

Awards were also presented to “Outstanding Members” from each class:  Natalie Brabec (7th Grade), Cassidy Hoffman (8th Grade), Taylor Larson (9th Grade), Paige Moore (10th Grade), Ashlee Novotny (11th Grade), and Megan Bahns (12th Grade).

At the end of the banquet, the current FCCLA chapter officers announced the new chapter officers for the 2017-18 school year.  FCCLA

Sydney Geier was named as the new chapter president, and Logan Becher became the new vice-president.

Payje Rayback will hold two offices, including Historian and Public Relaions, Taylor Larson was named as the new District Representative and Vice President of STAR, Reagan Settje is the new Treasurer.

“I feel very fortunate to be elected as an officer for my second year in a row,” Sydney Geier said. “I am very happy that in the 2017-2018 year I will be serving as our chapter president. One of my hopes as president is that we keep gaining more and more members every year. FCCLA benefits everyone in so many ways. I encourage everyone to join FCCLA next year. It’s a blast!”
