Cyclones Split in Madison Triangular

By: Reagan Settje, a junior at Leigh High School on September 24, 2018

The Cyclones had their third triangular of the year in Madison against Logan View/Scribner-Snyder and Madison/Humphrey-Lindsay on August 30.

They took on LVSS first.  It was a slow start for both teams as nobody scored until the third inning.  The Cyclones were ahead until they had a rough fifth inning, where they gave up 10 runs.

The Cyclones pushed to regain the lead, but the gap had widened too far.  They lost to LVSS 7-12.

The Cyclones were craving a win, and they got one in their next game against Madison/Humphrey-Lindsay.  MHL entered the triangular with a 2-5 record.

The Cyclones were able to score in almost every inning, while holding MHL to only two runs.

The final score was 9-2.

“We didn’t quite play our best in either game,” junior Payje Rayback said.  “We just had 1 bad inning in the LVSS game and battled back, but we just fell short. I’m glad we got the win against Madison/Humphrey/Lindsay, but we could have played better overall.”

Head coach, Adam Indra said, “ Overall the girls are showing good progress in their development. Even though the LVSS game was a hard loss, the team showed fight against Madison/Humphrey/Lindsay in getting the win.”
