Senior Spotlight: Reagan Settje

August 22, 2001, was a day of pure joy for Chad and Kristi Settje as they welcomed their first child, Reagan Settje, into the world in Broken Bow, Nebraska.

Reagan is part of a large family.  She has four younger sisters: Kennedy, age 16, twins Brynn and Baylee, age 12, and Bergan, age 8. To round out the family is a tiny dog, Jax. Reagan’s grandparents are Gary and Judy Blessen of Creston, Mike and Cindy Settje of Leigh, and Tom and Sue Kabes of Clarkson.

To get to know this senior a little bit better, Reagan says the three words to describe her best are “responsible, competitive, and a perfectionist.” Her worst bad habit is chewing her cheeks and her biggest pet peeve is when people chew loud.

Reagan has many favorites. Her favorite subjects in school are child development, parenting, or any FCS class. Her favorite TV show is Grey’s Anatomy, her favorite food is stroganoff, her favorite song is “Just the Way” by Parmalee, and her favorite sports team is the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Outside of school you can find Reagan babysitting or swimming when the weather is nice.

Throughout high school Reagan has been involved in FCCLA for six years; volleyball, basketball, journalism, band, and One-Act for four years; yearbook, National Honor Society, Quiz Bowl, and Youth Advisory Committee for three years; and FBLA, dance, and track for two years.

Reagan has received honors in many activities. She served as FCCLA President, received Student of the Month several times, earned Academic All-State honors in Volleyball and One-Act, received an Outstanding Actress Award in One-Act, and has been a FCCLA State STAR qualifier.

With her many accomplishments, Reagan says her proudest high school moment was making it to State One-Act three years in a row.

Reagan says her most embarrassing moment of her high school career is falling down the stairs at One-Act practice and rolling her ankle.

After graduation, Reagan plans to attend Wayne State College and major in Elementary Education.

Three goals on Reagan’s bucket list are to travel, start a family, and go bungee jumping. If she could travel anywhere in the world, she would go to St. Lucia because she says “it looks really pretty, it’s warm, and there’s a beach.”

In 10-15 years, Reagan sees herself married, working as a teacher, and having kids. If she is fortunate enough to win the lottery, she would buy a house, pay off student loans, and travel the world.

Reagan’s advice to underclassmen is, “Focus on what is happening right now. Enjoy the moment and don’t procrastinate.”

Congratulations and good luck, Reagan!
