Leigh-Clarkson FCCLA Holds Virtual Conference

By: Macy Clausen, a freshman at Leigh High School

On October 12, the Leigh-Clarkson FCCLA experienced the first ever virtual District Leadership Conference.  They were able to take their entire chapter to the old high school building to have a large private place to gather.

Every year the Leigh-Clarkson FCCLA Chapter attends the District Leadership Conference in Columbus. This year, however, was a whole different scenario. With Covid-19, the District Leadership Conference was held over screens.

The conference consisted of chapter advisors and members sending in videos for breakout sessions. This year’s keynote speaker also had to send in a video of her presentation. Leigh students Natalie Brabec, and Alicia Holmberg were two of the speakers in the conference. Mrs. Megan Hillen, the chapter advisor, put the conference together.

Freshman Tanyn Larson had this to say about this year’s conference, "This year at the DLC it was definitely different than what we usually do. I would have much rather been in person and been able to see and meet new people, but I still got a lot out of the virtual DLC."
