Class of 2021 Senior Spotlight: Trevor Zulkoski

By: Kayden Schumacher, a senior at Leigh High School

On March 12, 2003, in Columbus, Nebraska, Kelly Wendt and Ross Zulkoski were blessed with the birth of their oldest son, Trevor Alan Zulkoski.

In addition to his mom and dad, Trevor has two step parents: Phil Wendt and Becca Zullkoski. Trevor also has four younger siblings: Dalton Zulkoski, age 16; Nevaeh Zulksoki, age 13; Jathan Clifford, age 10; and Bryssa Zulkoski, age 6. Trevor’s grandparents are Jerry and Kathy Bierman of Columbus, Rick and Lori Wendt of Leigh, and Ellie Zulkoski of Columbus.

Trevor’s family wouldn’t be complete without his dogs.  There is a Toy Poodle named Oreo, a Corgipoo named Cheerio, and a German Shepherd named Husker. Trevor also has “way too many” cats.

Trevor has been highly involved in extracurricular activities throughout his high school career. He participated in football, basketball, one act, and FFA for four years; and FBLA and YAC for two years. It is through his activities Trevor has had some of his greatest high school memories. Trevor states that his proudest high school moment was being named a football captain.

Trevor has also had many accomplishments. Trevor has been named Honorable Mention All-State in the Lincoln Journal Star for football. Trevor has also received Student of the Month, and has also been recognized as an “Outstanding Actor” in Conference and District One-Act.

Trevor’s favorite subject in school is weights. His favorite restaurant is Raisin Canes, and his favorite sports team is the Nebraska Huskers. Trevor’s favorite hobbies are to hunt, fish, and hang out with his friends. His biggest pet peeve is nail biting. Trevor is described as sarcastic, funny, and athletic.

If Trevor won the lottery, he would pay any debts for his family members, pay for college, buy a nice truck and house, and travel to Alaska. He wishes to go to Alaska so that he could hunt and fish.

Many people have helped shape and mold Trevor into the wonderful, successful person he is today. Trevor says that his biggest role model is his dad. “He has taught me everything I know, and he has shaped me into who I am today,” Trevor said.

Trevor’s plan after high school is to attend Northeast Community College and major in Diesel Mechanics. He plans to work at a Case Dealership. In ten years, Trevor sees himself married with kids. He wants to own a house and a nice truck.

Trevor’s advice to underclassmen is: “Make sure you have a lot of fun because high school goes way faster than you’d expect it to.”
