Stats By: Nathan Bahns and Jacob Martensen

Starting out the season strong, the Clarkson-Leigh Patriot track team competed in their second meet of the year at Osceola on March 31.  They followed that up with David City Aquinas on April 5.

At Osceola, the girls’ team was meet champion!  At the David City meet, the girls finished 3rd as a team.  The boys’ team finished 5th overall at both meets.

            Highlights of the Osceola meet include freshman Chloe Hanel picking up gold medals in High Jump, 100 Hurdles, and 300 Hurdles; Kennedy Settje winning the Long Jump; and senior Emily Loseke winning the 100M Dash and 200M Dash and breaking a Patriot record in the 200M Dash with a 26.95.  Loseke and Hanel also teamed up to win the 4x100M Relay along with Tanyn Larson and McKenna Stodola.

On the boys’ side, Eli Hays won the Triple Jump and Mitch Beeson won the 300 Hurdles;

At Aquinas, junior Carter Hanel won the Discus for the boys’ team.  Chloe Hanel again won both hurdle events for the girls’ team, and Loseke won the 100 and 200, breaking her own record again for the 200.  The girls’ also won the 4x100M Relay again.

            Assistant Coach Tyra Reardon was pleased with how the team’s competed.

 “I think the Osceola and David City track meets were great! Overall, both the boys and girls teams were very successful and brought home several titles and medals. I am very excited to see how all of the athletes progress over the course of the season. We are off to a great start!”

            Sophomore Korbee Wendt who competed in 400 and 4x4 said, “The Osceola track meet went well. We all competed very hard and came out with a first place win. The David City track meet also went well. We all competed great and even though there was tough competition we fought and were able to come out with a pretty good placing. Overall they were two pretty good meets.”
