FCCLA Team Sees Huge Success at State Competition!

7 Qualify for Nationals and Brabec Ends Her Term as State Officer

The Leigh-Clarkson FCCLA Chapter joined over 1,000 youth members and adult sponsors at the annual FCCLA State Leadership Conference in Kearney on April 3-5, 2022. This conference provided students opportunities to hear from the keynote speaker, participate in breakout sessions, compete in STAR Events, and be recognized for their work throughout the year, and elect the 2022-2023 State Officer Team.

Chapters were recognized for all of their hard work with several awards.  The Leigh-Clarkson FCCLA Chapter received the Gold Chapter Award.

This year Leigh-Clarkson had a member chapter serve as a State Officer. Natalie Brabec served as the 2021-2022 VP of Competitive Events. At the end of the conference she handed over her position to the next state officers.

Brabec stated, “As the first State Leadership Conference FCCLA has had since 2019, it was amazing. It was great to see all of the members get together again and also to congratulate them on all of their hard work throughout the year! As I ended my state officer position during this conference, it was very sad to think that it is all over, but I am also grateful for the experience that Nebraska FCCLA has given me!”

Over 550 students competed in STAR events at the State Leadership Conference. The Clarkson-Leigh Chapter had 17 members participate in the STAR competition. This year 4 groups from the Leigh-Clarkson Chapter qualified for Nationals in San Diego, California, which includes 7 individuals!  These include seventh-graders Ella Higby and Vylet Hollatz, sophomore Macy Clausen, junior Jessica Hoffman, and seniors Faith Indra, Kennedy Settje, and Mitchel Beeson.

Our competitors did so well, and we were so fortunate to be able to see Natalie complete her term as a state officer. She demonstrated courage, grace, and kindness to all members and set such a great example for not only our local chapter, but FCCLA members from across the state.”
