Class of 2022 LHS Senior Spotlight: Zane Williams

The final senior to be recognized for our senior spotlights for this year’s LHS graduating class is none other than Zane Robert Williams.
Zane was born on March 3, 2004, in Long Prairie, Minnesota, to parents Robert and Nikki Williams. He has one older sister, Mackenzie, who graduated from Leigh in 2019. Zane’s grandfather is Harry Williams of Columbus, NE. Zane also has a fox named Buddy, a dog named Catie, and a cat named Smithy.
Zane participated in various activities while he was in high school, including basketball, FFA, and One-Act for four years. He is also a member of the Leigh Youth Advisory Committee.
Zane says his proudest high school accomplishment is winning “Student of the Month,” and his favorite memory is playing in the boys’ sub-state basketball game.
After graduation, Zane’s future plan is to go to Northeast Community College for Building Construction.
If he won the lottery, he would buy a pickup, buy land in Alaska, and build a nice house. Zane said if he could travel anywhere in the world, he would go to Alaska to trap, hunt, fish, and live off the land.
According to Zane, three words that describe him best are “funny, outgoing, and caring.” When he’s not in school, you might find him hunting, trapping, fishing, working with furs, or working long hours at his second home, Steve’s Madhouse Market.
Zane’s biggest pet peeve is people acting stupid and people repeating themselves over and over. Zane’s most embarrassing moment was wearing clothes backwards or inside out.
Zane sees himself in 10-15 years hopefully owning his own fur buying business.
Three goals on Zane’s bucket list are building a nice shop, being able to buy a pickup, and going to Alaska. Someone Zane admires in his life is his dad because he says his dad taught him everything he knows.
Zane’s favorite movie or TV show is Happy Gilmore or Step Brothers. His favorite song is “45” by Shinedown, or songs by Kodak Black. His favorite sports team is the Minnesota Vikings. His favorite food is steak or chicken fried steak.
