Senior Spotlight 2023: Albert Diaz

On May 23, 2005, in Columbus Nebraska, Maria and Miguel Diaz were blessed with the birth of their son, Albert.

In addition to his mom and dad, Albert’s family is also made up of two full siblings, Erick (age 28), and Martin (age 25), who both graduated from Leigh.  He also has three step-siblings: Miguel Diaz-Alvarado (42), Theodoro Diaz-Alvarado (39), Jessica Francisca Alvarado (33).

Alberts grandparents are Carolina Ramirez-Chavez Garcia and Alberto Garcia, and Francisca Pineda Diaz and Pilar Alvarado Diaz.

Rounding out his family are his two cats, Milo and Kika.

Throughout high school, Albert was involved in Choir for three years, Speech for three years, and One-Act for one year.

Albert’s future plans are to attend Central Community College to earn his General Education degree and hopefully move on to a four-year college after that.  His major is undecided.

To get to know this senior better, Albert says he would describe himself as smart, hardworking, and beautiful.

His favorite hobbies are making music, making videos, and making gourmet sandwiches at his job at Jimmy John’s.

If Albert won a fortune in the lottery, he would buy a lot of cars and trucks, invest some money into himself, and put the rest into investments.

Also on his bucket list are making a film and meeting comedian Theo Von.  Albert says he has always admired Theo Von because he has been someone who makes him laugh, and he likes his form of humor and storytelling.

If Albert could go anywhere in the world he said he’d travel to Southern California.

His favorite subject to study in school is American History, but his favorite high school memory came in shop class and involved “cutting apart my truck with Andrew and Nathan.”

Some of Albert’s other favorites include the movie Mulholland Drive and the TV show The Sopranos.  His favorite song is “Pumpin’ the Slug” by Pouya.  His favorite sports’ team is the Manchester United soccer team, and his favorite food are Wendy’s spicy chicken nuggets.

Albert says his most embarrassing moment in school was “sliding into a curb in the parking lot while it was icy, then struggling to make it up the hill.”  His worst habits are chewing his nails and using too much gas.

Before he graduates, Albert says he doesn’t really have much advice for underclassmen, but he does have a life motto of “Cash rules everything around me, 100%.”

We wish Albert the best of luck in the future!
