JH Loses to Huskies
The third Clarkson-Leigh JH football game of the year took place in Shelby on Monday night, September 18.
It was a close game with the Patriots scoring 0 and Shelby-Rising City scoring 8 in the first quarter. The second quarter saw the Pats score a touchdown but fail to convert the 2 points after, leaving them trailing 6-8.
In the second half, S-RC added one more touchdown in the third quarter, and the Patriots added one in the fourth, but in the end, the final score was 12-14 in favor of the Huskies. This brings the season record for the junior high team to 1-2 so far.
When asked about some highlights of the game, seventh-grader Xavier Ross said, “Cole had a clutch catch, we got an onside kick return, and I tackled the QB.”
“I was very proud of how we competed,” said JH Coach Jeff Bachman. We showed up and played physically. We are showing real progress and improvement.”
