One-Act Team Prepares for Upcoming Performances

The Leigh High School One-Act play production team’s season is in full swing, preparing for their upcoming performances and competitions.

This year’s team is the school’s biggest ever with 63 cast and crew members!  They have taken on the production of the beloved Christmas classic “Elf.”

Some of the iconic characters in the show include Buddy the Elf, who will be played by sophomore Luke Eisenmann.  Buddy lives and works at the North Pole with Santa (Blake Loseke) and many elves, including the head elf (James Grotelueschen). Upon learning he is a human and has a family in New York City, Buddy travels to find them, including Walter, his dad (Jordan Noonan); Emily, his stepmom (Gracie Eisenmann); and Michael, his half-brother (Brianne Kuhr).  Along the way he meets love interest, Jovie (Gabriel Pinkston), perky secretary, Deb (Tanyn Larson); two bumbling office assistants (Kyle McMullin and Brett Wemhoff); a paranoid store manager (Sydney Messerlie); a nasty boss (Morgan Bunner); a flustered news reporter (Macy Clausen) and a variety of other characters.

This year’s team has a large number of excellent crew members as well, including head of construction, Nathan Bahns, and student director and sound tech, Lilly Bunner.

The play is directed by Mrs. Justine Fischer and assisted by Mrs. Megan Hillen, Mrs. Michelle Held, and Mrs. Kamin Held.  Dennis Hillen and Loretta Tejkl are helping once again with set design and costuming.

“We are so excited about this year’s play!” Mrs. Fischer said.  “We have a group of really talented kids with the best attitudes and work ethics. “Elf” is supposed to be a 2 ½ hour play, and we have to do it in 30 minutes, so getting it cut to time will be our biggest challenge this year, but we will get there!  We are fortunate to be able to host both Conference and Districts in Leigh this year, so we hope everyone will come see us at one of our many performances!
