Leigh Runner-Up at EHC One-Act
In their second performance of the year, on Tuesday, November 18, the Leigh One Act team performed “A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum" at the East Husker Conference Competition held at Wisner, but hosted by Humphrey. Leigh swooped in and received Conference Runner-Up!
A whopping 9 actors on the Leigh cast received Outstanding Performance recognition at Conference, including Wyatt Langhorst, Luke Eisenmann, Tyce Larson, Sydney Messerlie, Liz Hoffman, Trevor Hoffman, Reese Wietfeld, Cash Fehringer, Wyatt Eisenmann.
Junior and senior members of the Leigh technical and crew team were also recognized including Brayden Loseke, Sofia Hake, Mia Glissman-Mayner, Quentin Mullenhoff, Ben Rodenburg, Blake Loseke, Halle Korth, Daphne Jedlicka, Cody Jedlicka, Rebecca Hastreiter, Grace Hansen, Reese Bruhn, Reann Bruhn.
There are 4 top performer awards given out to all schools, two for main actors and two for supporting actors. They are awarded to the top 4 performers in the whole conference. Leigh earned one of those awards! Senior Sydney Messerlie earned one of the “Top Supporting Performer” awards for her role as Domina, a character notorious for her spice and dominant personality.
Howells-Dodge finished as the Conference Champion, and Stanton rounded out the top three!
Junior actor Wyatt Langhorst, who plays one of the leads, Pseudolus, stated, "Conference is always where you get to see how you perform in front of a real audience and I think we did well. Obviously, there are things we need to tighten up going forward, but we were able to compete well and get a proper performance under our belt."
One-Act Director Mrs. Justine Fischer said, "I’m excited about how we competed at conference! We improved so much from our first performance just a few days earlier, and it was great to see our show really come together! We will keep working hard to put on the best show we can for our final performances!”
