Students of the Month Announced

To ring in the new year, three new students were announced as December’s “Students of the Month”: Jared Olson, Lexis Gleason, and Reese Wietfeld. Students can receive this award for hard work in the classroom or extracurricular activities, leadership, and character.

The first recipient, junior Jared Olson, is the son of Mike and the late Carrie Olson. His grandparents are Victor and the late Velda Olson.

Jared is currently involved FFA, Youth Advisory Committee, and One-Act in school. In the future, he hopes to go into a career related to ag or ag business. Outside of school, he enjoys hanging out with his friends.

This is the first time Jared has been named “Student of the Month,” and he says that he feels honored to have won.

Here is what Jared’s teachers had to say about him:

--Jared has really matured greatly over the years.  He works hard on his assignments, cares about his grades, and was very responsible and hard-working in One-Act this year. He also has a fun personality.

--Jared did very well on all of his homework and tests for his college class this past semester. He was very motivated and was one of the first students to turn in his grades and show that he had everything completed for this class.

The second winner of December was sophomore Lexis Gleason, daughter of Amy and Jeremy MacDonald, and granddaughter of Janette and Dave Pinkston.

Throughout her time in high school, Lexis has been involved in cheer, dance, golf, speech, One-Act, and track. Her favorite subjects are math and science.

Lexis’s favorite things to do outside of school are to play video games, clean, and bake. She is interested in becoming a paramedic after high school.

Lexis is a first-time winner, and she said, “Receiving recognition for my hard work is a rewarding feeling, and I am very thankful to have been nominated.”

Here’s what teachers had to say about Lexis:

Lexis is a very hard-working student and puts a lot of time and effort into whatever she does. She always has a smile on her face. Overall, she is just a great kid!

Lexis works hard on her extracurricular activities and academics.  She is very involved in many activities and puts her all into everything she does.  She is kind to others and always has a positive attitude and fun personality.

The final “Student of the Month” was two-time winning freshman Reese Wietfeld. Her parents are Matthew and Emily Wietfeld, and her grandparents are Doug and Susie Fischer and Kenny Wietfeld.

She enjoys participating in volleyball, basketball, track, and FFA during school, but she enjoys hanging out with her family and friends outside of school. Her favorite subject is speech class.

Reese says, “I feel very honored to get this award. It feels awesome to see that the teachers have noticed that I am trying my best in school and extracurricular activities.”

Reese’s teachers said, “Reese works very hard in the classroom and puts in a lot of extra time for her extracurriculars. She is very respectful, friendly, and helpful.”

“Reese is just a great kid – she always has a positive attitude and kind word for anyone in the hallway.  She wants to do her best in everything she does, and it shows.”

Congratulations Jared, Lexis, and Reese!
