Leigh Students Chosen for EHC Honor Choir

On November 3rd, 2025, the annual East Husker Conference Honor Choir Clinic and Concert was hosted at Wisner this year. Four Leigh choir students—Ariyah Ross, Sydney Messerlie, Kiera Wiese, and Clayton Folken—had an amazing day at the honor choir. These students auditioned and were selected to attend. Leigh also had four other students who were selected to attend, Mia Glissman-Mayner, Vivian Bunner, and Jordan Whitlinger, but all could not attend due to illness.

It was a day filled with long hours of practicing, a few breaks, and beautiful voices that blew away the crowd. At 6:00pm there was a concert where anyone and everyone was welcome to attend.

Alto singer Ariyah Ross said, “I really enjoyed singing there. I made lots of new friends who helped me in the honor choir. By the time the concert began, all the people singing sounded like one whole, which was really pretty. All in all, I really enjoyed this experience, and I would love to go again next year.”

Music Teacher Mrs. Wemhoff said, “The conference honor choir was a great experience as always. Students had the chance to practice their songs all day with other students in the conference and perform them in a concert that evening. Ariyah Ross was also chosen for the select honor choir and she did a fantastic job with a very difficult song.”

We hope to see more people not only going out for choir, but to participate more in honor choir. It was an amazing experience and enhances social skills with others. It’s a connection that comes from passion that hopefully grows more in the future.
