Patriot Dance Team Places High at Norfolk Competition!

On Sunday, January 4, the Clarkson-Leigh Patriots dance team traveled to Norfolk High School to compete in their first competition of the year. This was the second year the Patriot dance team competed at the Norfolk High competition.

The dance team performed their high kick, hip hop, and pom routines. The team took home 1st place in high kick and received 4th place in both their hip hop and pom dances!

Team captain Karly Wendt said, “It felt good to finally get out and perform in front of a dance crowd. Going to these competitions really boosts our confidence and gets us prepared for state. It gives the girls who are new to dance a taste of what's to come at state this spring. I felt very proud of how the team did and can't wait to see how much more we improve.”

There are 12 girls on the Patriot dance team this year, and they are coached by Mrs. Steph Dostal.

Coach Dostal said, “The Norfolk Dance Competition was an amazing day filled with energy, passion, and hard work paying off! Competing against C and D schools from across Northeast Nebraska, our dancers left it all on the floor and showed incredible heart. Bringing home 1st place in Kick and 4th place finishes in both Pom and Hip Hop is a huge accomplishment and a reflection of our dedication, teamwork, and spirit. We are so proud of how this team performed and represented our school!”
