In the Spotlight: Panther Cheer Team
Launch the media gallery 1 playerThe Panther Cheer Team is not only here this year to cheer on all of the other athletics and athletes, but also here to make history by being the first Panther cheerleaders in a long time!
The Panther Cheer Team consists of four cheerleaders and a great coach. Coach Ann Sobota has been keeping the team together by setting up practices, being the chauffeur, and keeping Panther spirit.
When asked what made her decide that she wanted to take the role of being the Panther Cheer Team coach, her response was, “I decided I wanted to coach the Panther Cheer team because I absolutely love this school. When I came to Leigh, I felt the passion and support this town had for its school and I wanted to be a part of that spirit and passion! Go Panthers!”
This year the cheer captain of the Panther cheer team is Kiera Wiese, a junior. When asked what the best part about being the Cheer Captain of the team is, Kiera said, “Being able to lead the three other cheer leaders and being the person they come to whenever they need help is probably the best part about being the captain.”
The other cheerleaders consist of juniors Lainey Urban and Ariyah Ross, and Kinzie Lange, freshman. Although people may think they're going to be really quiet with the amount of girls they have out, they are going to try their best to be the loudest and most enthusiastic whenever it's time to cheer on Panther athletics!
