Panther VB Plays Midweek Quad

After the Panthers picked up their first win against the Madison Dragons on September 1st, they looked ahead to a competitive 3-game quad at Bancroft where they would play Walthill, Bancroft-Rosalie, and Winside on September 3rd.

They started the night off strong, beating the Walthill Bluejays 25-5. The Panthers ended up sweeping the Bluejays in 2 two sets, 25-12. This game was another good win by the Panthers, but there was still more competition to come. 

Ella Hansen led the team in aces with 7, and Sadie Brabec also contributed 5 to lead the Panthers to their second win of the season! 

Next, the Leigh Panthers were up to face the Bancroft-Rosalie Panthers. The Leigh Panthers volleyball team lost in two straight sets against the Bancroft-Rosalie Panthers. Bancroft-Rosalie came out firing in the first set, defeating Leigh 25-14. Leigh picked their game up the second set, but Bancroft-Rosalie still managed to pull away at the end and win the game 25-21. 

            Finally, the Leigh Panthers went on to face the Winside Wildcats. The Panthers fought hard but ultimately dropped a tight match to the Wilcats in three close sets. They opened the match with a tough performance, barely falling 25-21 in the first set before fighting back with a dominant 16-25 victory in the second to even up the sets. The third set was more back-and-forth action between both teams, but Winside managed to edge out the Panthers 25-21 to take the match. 

Lainey Urban guided the team’s offense with 8 kills, while Averi Clausen, Sadie Brabec, and Vylet Hollatz followed with 6 kills each. 

A senior Emersyn Urban said, “This quad was a great learning experience for us. We went up against some competition that pushed us. Overall, we did some great things and we are ready to continue to get into the gym and work.”

The Panthers continue their season at 2-4!
