Facing the heat and a tough course of trees, the girls Panther golf team competed in 2 meets in Stanton this week. On Tuesday September 1st, the girls first competed in a 9-hole tournament against Norfolk Catholic, Stanton, and Clarkson. Returning back to Stanton the following Thursday, the girls competed again in an 18-hole meet competing against 54 girls.

The first meets of the season were a success for the Panther golfers even though a team score wasn’t turned in. Senior Halle Korth placed 2nd shooting a 55 at the 9-hole meet and 7th shooting a 107 at the invite on Thursday.

Between both meets, the girls improved in their shooting and putting game.

In addition to Korth, at the 9-hole and 18-hole meets respectively, senior Hannah Martensen shot 67 and 124. Junior Kaycee Lange shot 75 and 134, and junior Kiera Wiese finished with 96 on the 9-hole.

Senior Halle Korth said, “Our team battled the heat for both Tuesday and Thursday. It was nice to get on the course and see where we were overall as a team. We have had a lot of improvement over the past couple of weeks and I can't wait to see what the rest of the season looks like!”

"It was exciting to finally get the girls out for their first meets of the season. I was proud of the way they stayed positive and battled through the heat. Congrats to Halle on her 2nd place individual score,” said Coach Sydney Wemhoff. “The girls have made a lot of improvement in just a few weeks, and it was great to see that progress during their first 18-hole round of the season. Despite the heat, they stayed focused and competed hard. Halle’s 107 earned her a seventh-place finish, and I’m really proud of the work everyone has put in to continue getting better. Even compared to Tuesday, everyone improved!”
