Leigh-Clarkson FFA Represented at the State Fair

FFA members Carson Ahrens and Makenna Held show their livestock at the annual state fair.

Summertime animal FFA projects don’t stop for these FFA members, as they took their animals to the 150th annual Nebraska State Fair in Grand Island.

The 11-day state fair event is held at Fonner Park from August 23 to September 2.  Members of the Leigh-Clarkson FFA chapter participating include Riana Grotelueschen, Carsen Ahrens, Brock Marxsen, and Makenna Held.

Riana Groteluschen took a Hampshire ewe and a market ewe. She got a blue in showmanship. Also blue were her Hampshire ewe and market ewe.

Carson Ahrens took a guilt and a barrow. His guilt placed 6th in its class and his barrow 9th.

Brock Marxsen took two market lambs. He placed third showmanship in overall sophomore class. His first market lamb placed 4th in its class and his second market lamb earned 5th in its class.

Makenna Held took a breeding heifer. She earned fourth purple in her class in showmanship and third purple in her class for commercial breeding heifers.

Brandy Held, Leigh Clarkson FFA advisor said “I was extremely proud of how well all of the Leigh-Clarkson FFA members did at the State Fair. They work hard all year with their animals, and it is great seeing their hard work pay off.”

Congratulations to Carsen, Riana, Brock, and Makenna with their state fair projects!
