Reagan Settje and Aubrie Hanna Named January “Students of the Month”

As students head back to the second semester of school after enjoying a break, students at the high school were once again recognized for their great work in the classroom and extracurricular activities. The two recipients for January’s “Student of the Month” were senior Reagan Settje and eighth-grader Aubrie Hanna.

Reagan Settje is the daughter of Chad and Kristi Settje, and granddaughter of Gary and Judy Blessen, Mike and Cindy Settje, and Tom and Sue Kabes.

She is a member of Volleyball, Basketball, FCCLA, FBLA, Yearbook, Journalism, Band, One-Act, National Honor Society, Quiz Bowl, and YAC. Her favorite class is Child Development/Parenting.

Outside of school, Reagan enjoys babysitting and hanging with friends. Upon graduation this spring, she plans major in Elementary Education at Wayne State College. Reagan is the first person to have won this award every year from 7th grade to senior year.

When asked about how she feels about winning this award she says, "I feel honored to get this award. It's nice to know that people notice everything I do."

Here’s what Reagan’s teachers had to say about her:

“Reagan is such a great kid.  She always puts her very best effort no matter what she is doing - extracurriculars, in the classroom, or being a leader for her activities.”

“She is very hard worker in everything that she does. Is helpful, kind and genuinely fun to have as a student.”

‘Reagan is extremely organized in all she does.  She balances so many activities and classes, and she excels in all of them because she gives 110% effort in all she does.”

Aubrie Hanna is the other recipient of this award. She is the daughter of Mike and Jen Hanna, and granddaughter of Vernon Hanna of Kansas, and Tom and Terri Hongsermeier of Ravenna.

She is a member of volleyball, band, and 4-H. Her favorite class is English.

Outside of school, Aubrie enjoys taking her puppy out for walks, practice archery, working with her sheep, and learning the ukulele and guitar. When she grows up, she wants to do something that involves a type of art. So far, her college choices are Wayne State College or Kansas State University.

When asked how she feels about winning this award she says, “I am flattered that I was chosen to win this award. To me, I think it's awesome that I am now a part of something that has been going on in this school for longer than I have been here. I feel honored to be among some of the other students that I respect and look up to.”

Here is what Aubrie’s teachers have to say about her:

“Aubrie always has a positive attitude and creative ideas in my class.  She is kind to all of her classmates, a leader in her project groups, and turns in quality work.  She has the right attitude no matter who she is assigned as her partner and makes sure to include them/explain editing features in iMovie.”

“Aubrie is a student who has shown tremendous improvement from last year. She has a great attitude in class, works very hard and has started to see more and more success.”

“Aubrie is an extremely hard worker in the classroom and always pays attention to detail.  She has a great vocabulary and expresses her thoughts and ideas very eloquently in her writing.  She is fun to have in class!”

Congratulations Reagan and Aubrie!
