New Teacher Spotlight: Mrs. Allison Schroeder

The kids and staff at Leigh Community Schools are excited to have a new member of
the staff. We welcome Special Education teacher Mrs. Allison Schroeder.
Mrs. Schroeder attended high school at Lindsay Holy Family. Then she received her
bachelor's degree in Secondary English Education and 7-12 Special Education from Wayne
State College.
She is currently working toward her master's degree in Behavior Intervention through the
University of Nebraska-Omaha.
Leigh is Mrs. Schroeder’s first job out of college. While she was in college, she worked
at Stadium Sports in Wayne and was a substitute teacher at different schools, including Leigh.
Despite a very busy life, she still tries to finds time for her favorite hobbies: reading,
cooking, golfing, and socializing with family and friends.
Mrs Schroeder is married to Riley Schroeder. Mrs Schroeder’s parents are Bryan and
Jenny Herchenbach, who live in Lindsay. Mrs Schroeder also has a brother, Trevor, and two
sisters who are also teachers. Kristen teaches FCS in Madison and Nicole (Mrs. Kabes)
teaches second grade here in Leigh.
Mrs Schroeder said “My favorite part about working at Leigh is the supportive and
friendly environment.  As a first-year teacher and a coach, I have lots of questions. There isn't a
single teacher or faculty member that makes me feel embarrassed or uncomfortable when I ask
for help. I have been enjoying coaching volleyball, getting to know my students, and working
with the other special education teacher, Ms. Pokorney.”
Everyone is looking forward to having Mrs. Schroeder in our school with us!
