2nd and 3rd Graders Visit “Explorit” Center

On Wednesday, March 4, the Leigh second and third grade classes attended a field trip to the Edgerton Explorit Center in Aurora, Nebraska. The Explorit Center is named for Dr. Harold Edgerton, an Aurora native who invented the “stroboscope,” which made rapid motion seem to stop in time, and was a huge advancement to modern photography. The students attended with their teachers Mrs. Loseke, Mrs. Dostal, and Mrs. Kabes, as well as many parent volunteers.

The students spent time exploring all the different hands-on exhibits at the center, as well as taking part in two demonstrations, including one about atoms and one about solids, liquids, and gases. The students enjoyed sack lunches and explored the gift shop as well. Overall, all of the students had a great day filled with science exploration and fun!
