Cyclones Earn Parents’ Night Win

With a tough and busy season thus far and being almost halfway through, the Highway 91
Cyclones Softball Team continues to put in the extra work every day.
On Thursday, September 1, the Cyclones traveled to Uehling to play Logan View/Scribner-
Snyder. They were ready for revenge as they recently lost to them in a tournament.
The game started off close with the Cyclones and Raiders both scoring two runs in the first
inning. The second inning the Cyclones couldn’t manage any runs, and the Raiders pulled away with the
lead, earning five runs.
LVSS led Highway 91 the whole game and they never looked back. While the Cyclones earned
four runs in the fifth inning, the Raiders came back and scored seven runs, ending the game with a final
score of 7-15.
On Tuesday, September 6, Parents’ Night for the Highway 91 Cyclones was held on one of their
two home fields in Dodge. They were ready to defend their home field and earn a much-needed win
against the South Sioux City Cardinals.
Highway 91 gained an early lead against the Cardinals, scoring two runs and playing great
defense in the first inning. The Cyclones continued to score a few runs every inning, but gave up seven
runs in the fifth inning, which put them down 11-13. Highway 91 was able to string together four runs in
the sixth inning, winning the game with a score of 15-14.
Head Coach Jenica Dietrich said, “South Sioux City is always a great, competitive game. The
back-and-forth score goes to show how tough and gritty our girls are. We stayed calm through all seven
innings and fought until the end. It was a great win for us!”
This win brings the Cyclones’ season record to 3-10.
Freshman Jocelyn Donnelly said, “I think that everyone played well, and we all kept our heads up
throughout the entire game.”
After earning their first home-field success of the season, the Cyclones are ready to keep rolling
and improving!
