Speech Team Competes at Boone Central

On Saturday, January 21, the Leigh Speech team went to the Boone Central speech meet to compete in the first major meet of the season.

Luke Eisenmann got a superior rating in both Novice Entertainment and Novice Extemporaneous. Brayden Loseke received a superior rating in Novice Informative. And Gabe Pinkston earned a superior rating in Varsity Humorous Prose.

Eisenmann also earned a placing in both his events—1st in Extemporaneous and 4th in Entertainment.

When asked how the speech meet went, freshman Brett Wemhoff said, “I thought I would place a little higher than I did, but it was a good learning experience for all of us because we have a very young team and we’re all learning as we go.”

When Coach Robin Urban was asked about the speech meet, Mrs. Urban said, “The Boone Central Speech Invitational was our first big speech meet.  The competition was tough, but I am proud that all of our team members received either a superior or excellent rating.  We are coming off of the meet with great feedback helping us prepare for the rest of the season.”
